Hydropal is designed to help you track your hydration and related habits, without collecting unnecessary data. This policy explains what information Hydropal handles, how it’s used, and what choices you have.

When we say “Hydropal,” “we,” “our,” or “us,” we mean Francesco Compagnoni, the app’s developer and publisher.

1. What Hydropal stores

All of your personal data — like your daily logs, gender, height, and weight — is stored locally on your device.
If you use iCloud, Apple securely syncs this data between your own devices. Hydropal itself never sees, transfers, or stores this data on any custom server.

Deleting the app will remove your local data. You can also delete the iCloud data for Hydropal in your device’s iCloud Settings at any time.

2. Health data

If you choose to connect Hydropal to Apple Health, the app can:

  • Read activity data (for example, your step count or workouts) to adjust hydration estimates.
  • Write hydration, alcohol, and caffeine entries to HealthKit so other apps can see them.

All HealthKit data stays within Apple Health. It’s governed by Apple’s privacy protections, not Hydropal’s servers (since we don’t have any).

You can turn HealthKit access on or off in your device’s Health settings whenever you like.

3. Analytics

Hydropal uses PostHog to understand how people use the app.
PostHog collects anonymous usage information such as:

  • which screens are viewed,
  • general device info (model, OS version),
  • app version, and
  • a randomly generated anonymous ID created when you first launch the app.

PostHog does not record session replays, surveys, or personal identifiers like your name or email.
This helps us improve the app without knowing who you are.

We also use the aggregated analytics that Apple provides through App Store Connect.

4. Purchases

Hydropal offers a free tier and an optional Pro upgrade. All purchases are handled by Apple’s StoreKit system. We do not process or store your payment details — Apple manages that securely.

5. Contact and support

If you email support@gethydropal.com or privacy@gethydropal.com, your message and address will be handled through normal email servers. We’ll only use that information to reply to your query and won’t share it with anyone else.

6. Children

Hydropal is rated 9+ on the App Store. It isn’t designed specifically for children, but it can safely be used by them with parental guidance. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

7. Sharing and disclosure

Hydropal does not share your data with advertisers or sell it to anyone. Your information only goes to:

  • Apple, for iCloud, HealthKit, and StoreKit services; and
  • PostHog, for anonymous analytics.

Both Apple and PostHog act as data processors under their own privacy terms.

8. Data deletion and control

Because Hydropal keeps your data on your own device or iCloud:

  • deleting the app removes your data locally;
  • deleting Hydropal’s iCloud data removes your cloud backup;
  • you can reset analytics tracking by reinstalling the app.

We don’t keep independent backups, so deletion on your side is permanent.

9. Legal basis and jurisdiction

Hydropal follows the privacy laws of the United Kingdom, the European Union, and relevant United States standards. The legal basis for processing any data is your explicit consent (for HealthKit and analytics) or legitimate interest (to maintain and improve the app).

If this policy changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. You can always find the latest version at gethydropal.com/privacy.
